It's Time to Think Outside the Bit!
Important and Exciting News! We have just released our first ExperiaSphere Application Note, on Multi-Screen Video and Meet-Me Telepresence. This document is almost 25,000 words with 27 illustrations, and it demonstrates how a network operator or other provider could build a rich multi-screen video experience around basic CDN functionality. The note is based on our ExperiaSphere architecture and provides great detail on how the application could be built. In fact, those with access to the code could probably build on our test cases to create a real implementation! Click HERE for your copy.
Everyone wants more these days, from entertainment to empowerment. Network operators in particular want a connection with the new revenue streams being created in mobile apps and content and cloud computing. They have a lot of the right assets, but both the operators and the vendors who support them have struggled for an implemenation framework that can create mass-market services but still offer controlled quality of experience and integration with their OSS/BSS systems. We worked with a number of these operators to learn their needs, and from that we developed ExperiaSphere.
ExperiaSphere is an open source effort to create software for the converged age of multimedia services, the first truly converged operations and feature framework based on Java! We'll be looking for participants and will be providing detailed information in early May. In the meantime, here is some information to tickle your interest! The Alpha-One prototype of ExperiaSphere was released on February 17 2009 and Extreme Networks has become our first vendor partner in the program. See the About> Blog page for additional information. Alpha-Two is our SocioPATH social communications framework; see our Technology tab for details. Our Beta release which will include base functionality for both the resource control and service/social control elements of ExperiaSphere, will be when source code will be loaded onto SourceForge. The progress toward this goal will depend on resources, of course. Volunteer some if you have time available!
You'll see menu bars on the top and bottom of each page, and for pages that have a substructure there will also be some page links in the left margin of the page. As you get used to referencing the material you'll be able to jump right to what you want, but if this is your first exposure to ExperiaSphere, we recommend that you navigate this in some logical order. There are two paths you can take. The first one starts in the About>FAQ page, and we recommend this if you don't know what this whole project is about! If you do, and you're looking for other data (or if you've read the FAQ), then go to the Architecture page and review first the Principles and then the sections on ExperiaSphere and SocioPATH.
We strongly recommend that you visit the DOWNLOADS page and get the PDF presentations on ExperiaSphere. Our latest pair provide some insight into our "Factory" view of mass-market web services!
